2011 Varsity Triathlon

Last week was an outstanding event, a mini triathlon in Pima Arizona sponsored by the Coronado District of the Boy Scouts of America. We took 10 boys and 3 adults from our unit. We arrived around 7:00 PM and got registered and 'marked' right away. We set up camp and had some pizza provided by our Stake.

Later, the boys went to a huge outdoor dance at the local LDS church and had a great time despite fact that there were way more boys than girls. The adults went on a reconnaisance mission to check out the course. The bike route had a few more hills than we were expecting, and we were glad to see some dirt on the run portion. This is how old age and treachery beats youth and skill...

We camped out overnight at the ball fields. It was a bit noisy, but the weather was incredibly mild. The next morning we got our bikes ready and headed to the pool. We got an early start time and everyone did great!

Many thanks to the organizers of this event and for the gracious people of Pima. Thanks to all the youth leaders for preparing our young men, you are awesome

A am pleased to say that my time was the fastest of our group. I even got a T-shirt that says 'I Beat President Winters' I'm going to wear that one all year!

Here's an article from the Eastern Arizona Courier newspaper
and a video

P.S. favorite car sticker in Pima "We don't rock them gansta clothes, we be wearing Wrangler jeans"
